There’s Cool, and there’s the Samsung 2G Wrist Phone
Okay, here is a nice piece of technology. This is a 2G mobile phone you can wear on your wrist? Awesome is it not? But with LG just around the corner releasing a 3G device of the same nature, you know that Samsung’s little 2G wonder will remain a novelty. Granted that we are all getting the shaft in regards to the high costs of these two devices; since we are already going to shell mega-bucks anyway, why not invest all that money on the phone with the better specifications? The almost same-time release of both wrist phones is going to make Samsung’s little gadget look like a gimmicky toy compared to LG’s touch screen wrist phone wonder.
I mean, who cares if it is cheaper? At the price of the Samsung wrist phone, we are definitely better off buying the latest Android smart phone with a Snapdragon processor (and as of this moment, there are only two of those, and only one will be available soon). Am I saying that Samsung’s little wrist phone is a bad idea, definitely not. This 2G device is impressive. Despite being an item of novelty, it still warrants attention. But the fact that this phone will be launching closely to the one LG is bringing out means that Samsung has not studied its launch date carefully.
On its own, this would have been a great device and I would be raving about it. But having seen the specifications on LG’s wrist phone has made me realize that if you are just going to make a novelty device, you might as well go all out and put everything in. The bottom line for wrist phones is that they will never replace mobile phones nor will they replace wrist watches; these devices from Samsung and LG are the perfect example of people doing something just to prove they can.
