Samsung Announces Third Device to have Super AMOLED Screen

Samsung’s new super AMOLED touch screen technology is really impressing mobile phone enthusiasts all over the world.

The very first time we ever got to see the super AMOLED screen in action was with the new Samsung Wave smart phone. Not only is the phone the first super AMOLED device, but it is also the first phone to utilize Samsung’s new Bada operating system. The OS, much like the Android, is an open source system. As with most open source platform, dev support for apps is the primary focus of the Bada, which Samsung has plenty of after they showcased the new OS last year to industry developers.

The Wave’s super AMOLED display showcased some of the richest colors on a handheld device we have ever seen. Blacks also appear as true blacks instead of the oddly shaded colors we are used to on other smart phones.

Now, the Korean manufacturer has brought out its third (or technically second) smart phone to use super AMOLED technology, the I9000 Galaxy S. Following the series of the original Galaxy and Galaxy Spica/Lite, the S uses the Google Android operating system.

This Android smart phone is going to be the most powerful Galaxy device to date with its 1GHz CPU, 4 inch super AMOLED capacitive touch screen and a 5 mega pixel snapper with 720p video recording. The device will be providing the HTC Desire, XPERIA X10 and the Nexus One with serious competition when it comes out.

The other super AMOLED device is an unnamed smart phone that will be utilizing the upcoming Windows Phone 7 series mobile platform. Details on the new phone are scarce, but it is expected that the device will come in the type-1 chassis.
