First spoken of back in February 2009, it has taken Samsung almost a year to get to the point where they are almost ready to release their new phone, the Samsung Blue Earth. The Blue earth is designed to help out the environment in terms of the amount of energy it uses, and how the phone is recharged. The most noticeable thing about the phone is that taking up the back of it is a solar panel. This may seem like something from a futuristic film, but you can actually charge the phone just by pointing it up at the sky. Although a natural charge may not last as long as an electrical charge, it not only helps out the environment, but is also great for you when you phone runs out of battery, as you can easily recharge it.

The Blue Earth itself is made largely from recycled plastic and household waste. This cuts down on the emissions produce by the phone in the manufacturing stage, as often factories have to make new plastic which burns dangerous chemicals into the air. Even the box the phone comes in is “planet friendly”, as it can be re used and made into a photo frame or pen holder if you want. The Blue Earth itself features a 3.2 megapixel camera, ideal for taking shots when you see a nice landscape or family moment. The phone features and Eco walk application which helps encourage you to walk around to places rather than drive, and shows you directions as well as providing you with motivational comments. Due to arrive in Sweden this month, Samsung have said the phone will be released shortly after in the rest of Europe and Asia.

The Samsung Blue Earth is one of the newer eco-friendly phones to hit the market. There is little doubt that it won’t be the last. As being “green” becomes more popular, their will likely be a growing market for such mobiles. The Blue Earth would be worth considering simply because it is an eco-friendly phone, but it has other merits that make it worth buying. The specs are very nice, making it a quality phone.

One of the most notable parts of the Samsung Blue Earth is its screen. It is made from the left over plastic of plastic bottles. It also utilizes a solar panel which helps to generate enough power so that users can make phone calls. What the Blue Earth doesn’t include is also beneficial. Samsung has left out certain materials that are harmful to the earth. They include Phthalate, Beryllium and Brominated Flame Retardants.

As stated above, besides the obvious “green” benefits of the phone, individuals interested in the Blue Earth handset will find that it is a pretty good phone. It comes with a 3.15 megapixel camera with 2048 x 1536 pixels, as well as video recorder. Users can talk hands free due to the phones Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity feature. The Blue Earth has a 3 inch touchscreen which is capacitive and 240 x 320 pixels. It can show 256k colors.

Overall, the Samsung Blue Earth is a very good phone. It has good specs, nice features and is of course, eco-friendly. Those in the market for a very nice, “green” phone will find this to be a solid pick. Samsung didn’t skimp on the specs and hope that people purchase it simply because it is better for the environment then most other available options. Individuals interested in buying the Blue Earth or who want to learn more about the phone will be able to do so online.
