Samsung’s old Galaxy is getting a second incarnation in the form of the Samsung i5700 Galaxy Lite. The original Galaxy is a 3G device that stood out thanks to its practical features despite being a high end device. The i5700 Galaxy Lite brings even more practicality with its price. Of course, they had to adjust a few features from the original Galaxy, but most of the specifications are so similar, it really does not matter much to the average mobile phone user (more hardcore mobile enthusiasts would certainly prefer the original Galaxy over the Lite in terms of specs).

Looks Like an Android

Looks wise, the Lite, is a much more stunningly impressive mobile phone. There are photos of the i5700 Galaxy Lite, all of which are official, mind you. The Lite is primarily a black matte phone with white accent prints –a stark contrast to the first leaked images that featured a predominantly white phone with bright green linings. A feature to note on the i5700 Galaxy Lite is the printed Android logo on the top front of the phone and the larger Android logo on the back –Samsung has suddenly sprung an Android phone in the world. The camera is located on the upper left area of the back. Up front, most of the space is taken up by the touch screen display. The diamond control pad below is accented with soft red.

Other Notes about the Galaxy Lite

Originally, it was assumed that the Galaxy Lite would be using Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz user interface; but as the images may have shown, this will be a full-fledged Android smart phone. At the moment, the only changes in hardware from the Galaxy to the Lite are the internal storage and the camera (which have been reduced to 1GB and 3.2 mega pixels, respectively). Interestingly, there has also been word that the i5700 will be renamed as the Galaxy Spica, it is an odd choice given that most of the public already recognizes the name Galaxy Lite.
