The phone does not have a keypad and allowing the user to have fun with their mobile. Using a special option called ‘photo contact’, the user can call any contact by simply touching an appointed image on the screen.

The Samsung S5230 has an inbuilt memory of 50 MB which can be extended up to 8GB using the MicroSD memory card slot.

Networking options are impressive with Class 12 GPRS, Class 12 EDGE and WAP. The phone also comes with Bluetooth 2.1 allowing faster data transfer.

The phones have a 3 MP fixed focus camera. This is a disadvantage, as not having the autofocus feature makes photos taken with the camera out of focus. The camera comes with smile detection technology which is a fun application as it allows the user to take a photo only when all the subjects being photographed smile. Videos can be recorded as the phone supports QVGA recording up to 15 frames per second.

The media player can play a wide variety of formats including MP3, WMA and AAC.
Additional options include the DNSe, making it easier for the user to access their media files and also make sound quality even better. The phone also allows easy music recognition using Shazam’s “Find Music” service which allows easy access to a wide variety of media content. The phone also has an accelerometer sensor.

Overall even though the Samsung S5230 may not seem revolutionary it makes a good mid budget phone with interesting features. It is possible that this phone will come free with some mobile broadband packages, which is something that anyone interested in it should look into.
